· Mitsubishi has best first half of calendar year on record
· Outlander PHEV sets record sales for second quarter
· New partnerships aimed at increasing awareness of the brand in Canada
MISSISSAUGA, ON, July 18, 2024 – After a record-breaking 2023 and the announcement of its future product plan earlier this year, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada is continuing its momentum with positive sales growth over the first half of 2024.
Mitsubishi Motors of Canada reported Q2 2024 results today with 9,318 total units sold, marking a 4.5% increase over Q1, when it sold 8,921 units. That’s the second-best quarter on record for the company. For the 2024 calendar year, the brand has sold 18,239 units in Canada, marking a 2% increase over the first half of 2023. Last year, MMSCAN went on to sell a record of 35,708 vehicles for the year.
Mitsubishi’s flagship Outlander PHEV SUV continues to be a market leader, selling 1,232 units in June and more than 4,000 units for the second quarter of 2024. That’s the best quarter for any Mitsubishi nameplate since it came to Canada 22 years ago.
“We’re seeing a more challenging market as buyer hesitancy continues because of the unstable economic landscape and other factors,” said Kenji Harada, President and CEO, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada. “However, we continue to see strong results, especially from the Outlander PHEV, which appeals to the Canadian lifestyle and driving habits.”
Mitsubishi Motors recently announced a three-year partnership with Pelmorex, which owns The Weather Network and MétéoMédia, that will see the auto brand become the Official All-Weather Vehicle of the two popular networks. Mitsubishi also became the first OEM to take part in AutoTrader’s new Storefront platform, which showcases the vehicle lineup, tells the brand story and presents owner stories.
In May, Mitsubishi Motors announced its Momentum 2030 plan, which sets the roadmap for future vehicles over the next five to six years, highlighted by a completely refreshed or new vehicle in each fiscal year from 2026 to 2030.
